Halloween 2026

A last-moment photo essay about our Halloween decorations.

Here on Glover Mountain, we take Halloween particularly seriously. Or as seriously as Halloween can ever be taken, so maybe what I mean is that we lean in with gusto and go kind of nuts on decor. All for our own benefit, mostly.

Anyway, a couple of nights ago as I took our two beagles out behind the house for their last potty of the night before bed, I noticed how our full-size Michael Myers figure was kind of lurking just inside the patio doors.

And, lord help me, I was struck with the notion of doing a very quick photo essay about it.

Due on Halloween. Which at that moment gave me 3 full days to shoot, edit and write it up. 3 full days in which I also have to work my day job, repair our increasingly flaky dryer, try to get our car in for an irritating stumble it has developed, and probably 10 other things I haven’t considered or which are waiting to ambush me just when I think I have everything under control. Oh, and I have ADHD too. Which is probably why this insane idea arrived fully formed in my head at 12:03am as I watched our dog empty his bowels on the lawn.

If you’re seeing this, I somehow (against all the odds) succeeded. Woohoo! Whiskey all round, you lot!
