30 riders zooming out of the main vertical dive and up into an Immelmann turn.

The “Griffon” dive coaster was one of the high points of the trip Kelli and I took to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. A quite literal high point in fact: 205 feet of high. That’s just before you dive straight down at 90 degrees off horizontal, which is just before the spot where this photo was taken.

Composite image of fireworks from the Bedford, Virginia 4th July 2009 fireworks display.

We had an insider tip on a good place to view Bedford’s annual 4th July fireworks display, and it turned out to be a good one. Clear view, no crowds, no waiting to get in and out (at least not where we were viewing, getting out of town afterwards was a whole other matter though).

I decided at the last moment to set up the camera and tripod, and took a huge number of long exposures of firework bursts.

This image is a composite of several separate photos. It took a fair bit of work to spot out the hot pixels. Next year I think I’ll try this with film.

Bright yellow rubber ducks on a blue background. I took this shot to make a print for our rubber-duck themed 2nd bathroom.
