Yet Another Flower Macro…or close-up, anyway.

I’m finding that I quite enjoy macro photography and the way it can reveal whole worlds of detail that are hiding in plain sight. The C4000Z is really quite good at this, with a “super macro” mode that’s within a half inch or so of being able to focus on it’s own front lens element. Flower shots are child’s play for it, though even with the small sensor, you have to stop down to get any useful depth of field.

My next (first!) lens purchase for the Canon FD system is most likely going to be either a dedicated macro lens, or a set of extension tubes to allow close focusing with my existing lenses.

As often was the case this summer, I’d let the lawn get a little out of control. However, this did mean there were ample targets for a guy with a camera and macro capability to go flower-bothering for a while.

There’s some semi-shiny silver posterboard behind the bubbles (I tried with blue as well, but the silver seemed to work better) and it’s lit by flash from the right hand side.
